Dublin 16. dubna (ČTK) – Irská organizace Digital Rights Ireland (DRI) připravuje žalobu na americkou internetovou společnost Facebook kvůli rozsáhlému úniku osobních údajů uživatelů. Vyzývá dotčené uživatele z Evropské unie, aby se k této žalobě připojili. Informují o tom server BBC a list The Irish Times. Podle DRI by jednotliví uživatelé, kteří se k žalobě připojí, mohli v případě úspěchu získat odškodné v rozsahu od 300 do 12.000 eur (zhruba 7800 až 311.000 Kč).
DRI tvrdí, že Facebook selhal při ochraně dat a neinformoval o úniku dotčené uživatele. Únik byl zjištěn již v roce 2019, nedávno se však uniklé údaje staly dostupnými na internetu, píše BBC.
Portál Business Insider začátkem měsíce informoval, že na internetu se objevila soukromá data 533 milionů uživatelů ze 106 zemí, a to například jména, telefonní čísla, e-mailové adresy či data narození. Firmu Facebook již kvůli této kauze začala vyšetřovat irská Komise pro ochranu dat (DPC).
Šéf DRI Antoin Ó Lachtnain označil rozsah tohoto úniku za šokující. Varoval, že terčem podobných žalob by se v budoucnosti mohly stát i další velké internetové podniky. „Bude to první hromadná žaloba svého druhu, ale jsme si jisti, že nebude poslední,“ uvedl. „Existují tu zákony na ochranu spotřebitelů a jejich osobních údajů a nastal čas, aby tito technologičtí obři pochopili, že ochranu osobních údajů je zapotřebí brát vážně,“ dodal.
Facebook minulý týden uvedl, že pachatelé data získali před zářím 2019 využitím bezpečnostní slabiny v nástroji pro synchronizaci kontaktů. Podle antivirové firmy Avast jsou mezi uniklými uživatelskými daty také údaje o více než milionu Čechů.
„Pokud by byla žaloba úspěšná, mohlo by to vytvořit precedent a otevřít dveře dalším hromadným žalobám,“ uvedl expert na digitální soukromí z organizace ProPrivacy. „Povinnost odškodnit jednotlivé uživatele by se pak pro velké technologické podniky mohla stát důraznou pobídkou k tvrdší práci na ochraně soukromí,“ dodal.
Irská Komise pro ochranu dat tento týden uvedla, že v souvislosti s únikem údajů zkoumá, zda firma Facebook neporušila pravidla Evropské unie na ochranu soukromí, jež jsou známá pod zkratkou GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). K
